چکیده
Popularly known as horse flies or deer flies, Tabanidae, has 4.400 described species distributed worldwide. Most of the females are hematophagous, but several also flower visitors. Cretaceous fossils Tabanidae scarce and fossil have plesiomorphic features unknown in modern flies. Here, we revised taxonomy from Crato Formation Brazil describing a new genus, Araripus gen. nov ., two – crassitibialis sp. . Cratotabanus cearensis The holotype stonemyomorphus , type is redescribed, male for first time. In addition, investigate phylogenetic position fly using morphological characters context wider analysis including representatives extant lineages.

متن کاملDesign for a canopy trap for collecting horse flies (Diptera: Tabanidae).
A design for a canopy trap for collecting horse flies is described. The collecting heads can easily be changed since the collar is fixed in place and supports the trap. The collar allows an unobstructed pathway to the collecting head. The center pole has a sliding steel rod that allows adjustment of canopy height upon installation in one operation.
